They say everything happens for a reason.
And that's what I just realized.
Two months ago, we put in an offer to purchase the house that we are renting. It was a short sale, so we knew it would take quite a long time before we could call it our own.
A month ago, I took a lot from my 401K retirement plan to augment the numbers in our savings account. It was one of our 'just because' moves.
Two weeks ago, I finally got my green card.
Last Friday, our realtor called us that the bank accepted our offer on the house and that we are going to start the home loan process with the bank.
Last Saturday, Dave started his first day of work.
Today we met with our mortgage agent and took all our information.
Good thing that Dave found work just in time.
And good thing that his work is just 4 blocks away from mine. Even though we only have one car, I can still hang on 3 more hours every day around town and wait for him to get done with work.
Good thing that I got my green card---so we have the option to purchase the house under my name should Dave's employment would not suffice the requirement. I did have a good paying job but without that tiny little card, I have no right to own a property.
Good thing I took out that 401k loan. We could use that for our downpayment.
Good thing we didn't buy the living room set that we wanted to put on our credit. Or that motorcycle Dave has been drooling about. That would have killed our credit score right there.
And good thing that the store was closed last night when we got there to get my iphone. I would have had subscribed for the two year plan and they would have had ran my credit. And that would have had affected our credit score when the bank ran our credit today.
Of course, not getting my new phone sucks for me. I don't need it anyway. It was just one of my 'just because' moment.
Oh well.
